Digital Learning Tools for Neurodivergent Children

We build learning tools for children with autism and ADHD – research-driven, open, and developed by a neurodivergent team.

About

What is DeepSpectrum Lab?

DeepSpectrum Lab is an independent research project at the intersection of psychology, software engineering, and AI. Our goal: digital learning tools that concretely help autistic children and children with ADHD in daily life – understanding social situations, processing emotions, and building self-regulation skills.

What sets us apart

Research-driven

Our modules build on current autism and ADHD research – Theory of Mind, executive functions, emotion regulation. We translate these findings into learning formats that children can actually use.

Neurodivergent team

Many of us are neurodivergent ourselves. This isn't a marketing line – lived experience with autism and ADHD shapes our design decisions, testing, and priorities.

Custom AI models

We build our own models for adaptive learning paths. Content adjusts to each child's pace and needs – no one-size-fits-all approach.

Interdisciplinary

Our team brings together psychologists, developers, and AI researchers – many of them neurodivergent themselves. This is how we build tools that are both scientifically grounded and actually work in families' daily lives.

Psychology

Conception of interventions for social cognition, Theory of Mind, emotion recognition, and self-regulation in autism and ADHD – with a focus on practical application.

Software Engineering

Development of a stable, barrier-free platform with clear interaction design, so exercises are intuitive, reliable, and well usable in the home environment.

Artificial Intelligence

Use of machine learning, data-driven models and a learning robot to make progress visible and adaptively adjust training to each child.

What we're building

A learning platform for children with autism and ADHD. Four modules covering social cognition and self-regulation – adaptive, child-friendly, and pressure-free.

Learning Modules

Social Stories & Daily Scenarios

Interactive stories show typical daily situations – schoolyard, doctor's visit, shopping. Children try out reactions, get direct feedback and learn social sequences risk-free.

  • Realistic daily scenarios
  • Safe practice of reactions
  • Direct feedback

Theory of Mind

Step-by-step training to understand others' thoughts and feelings – central for autism. From simple desire/belief differences to complex perspective-taking, individually adapted.

  • Autism-specific
  • Gradual progression
  • Visual & linguistic support

Emotions & Self-Regulation

Recognition of emotions in faces, voices, situations. Children learn appropriate reactions and calming strategies – especially important for ADHD frustration management in daily life.

  • Multimodal emotion training
  • Short daily exercises
  • Regulation strategies

Executive Functions

Gamified exercises for attention, impulse control and planning – core areas for ADHD. Short, repeatable units build routines without overwhelming.

  • ADHD-focused
  • Impulse control & planning
  • Motivating micro-sessions
